Tanzania is a dream - one of the best countries for game viewing. From

The group tour to Tanzania offers

visitors will find a country with vast unbroken vistas. East Africa has also been

weightless African sky, hills and slopes emerge with golden savannas. In the

middle towers Kilimanjaro’s peak covered by a heavy coat of snow, glittering in

the heat like a mirage between illusion and reality.

Tanzania covers an area of 345,000 square miles (around 22 times bigger than

Denmark). 25% are preserved game reserves and national parks. There are

around 32 millions inhabitants with 120 different tribes, all with their own language

and traditions. The main language in Tanzania is Kiswahili, but in most towns and

in the tourist areas people speak English. The climate varies but the temperature

at the coast rarely goes below 30 degrees. The short monsoon is from October to

November and the long one is from the end of March to the end of May.

The wildlife is a big part of Tanzania. We saw lots

a unique experience. Next day we continued to the

Tanzania

Highlights in Tanzania

Ruaha national park

is located around 3 hours drive from Iringa on the

main road between Dar es Salaam and Zambia. The park is, with its

5,000 square miles, Tanzania’s second largest national park, slightly

smaller than Serengeti. The vegetation consists of forest savannah and

the wild life in the park differs from the northern parks. Ruaha is famed

for its herds of elephants, kudu and roan antelopes which are quite rare

in the northern parts. You will also see sable antelopes, little kudu, lions,

leopards, wild dogs, buffaloes, impala, waterbucks, warthogs and hippos.

Along the river bed the crocodiles bask in the sunshine waiting for prey.

The Masai tribe

lives in harmony with nature and wildlife. You will

encounter plenty of exciting traditions and customs. When a boy grows

from boyhood to manhood he needs to be circumcised. As a part of his

maturing process he will learn how to become a warrior and how to

defend himself against lions. A Masai village may consist of 1 man, 8

wives and 50 children.

Dar es Salaam

is a charming African town which is bordered by the

beautiful Indian Ocean. Not only is the ocean Indian but also the food.

The town has a wonderful atmosphere and you will find cafés, markets

and restaurants in abundance. In the centre of the town you will find the

old Dar where derelict colonial houses bear witness of a lost time.

The voluntary work

takes place in the Masai villages and in schools or

orphanages in Dar. Masai tribes are still living the old traditional way.

They are pastorals keeping their cattle in their vast "Masai land"

surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro and the N'gorongoro crater. We are

developing and operating vocational training centres in Masai villages.

You will teach Masai in subjects as English, health information, arts and

handicrafts. You will help run nursery schools to help the Masai to

understand the meaning and necessity of education. Introduce small

technologies as drinking water filters, small solar power systems, firebrick

making and similar practical issues. In Masai land you live in the Masai

villages in traditional Masai ways.

Zanzibar

is not included in this programme, but it is a great island to visit

during your free time. It has a lot to offer: Fantastic beaches, coral reefs,

game reserves with awesome animal species - not to mention the old

Stone Town with its narrow streets. The majority of the inhabitants in

Zanzibar are Muslims. As a traveller you must respect the traditions and

customs of the island also in relation to your clothing. Topless bathing is

of course strictly forbidden.

Tanzania

is an ideal country for adventure – wildlife, mountains, an

exciting and foreign culture not to mention the ocean and the sun. Only

the fantasy sets the limit for your adventure here!
